Iranian director Saman Hosseinpour to serve on jury at IPFF

Iranian filmmaker Saman Hosseinpour is to serve on jury at the Int’l Portrait Film Festival in Bulgaria.

Iranian filmmaker Saman Hosseinpour has been selected to serve on the jury at the 2nd International Portrait Film Festival (IPFF) in Bulgaria.

The 28-year-old director is one of seven jurors from around the world who were named to judge the competing films at the 2nd IPFF, the Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported.

It is worth mentioning that ‘The Other’, co-directed by Hosseinpour and Ako Zandkarimi, was awarded at the first edition of the festival.

‘Slaughter’, another film by Hosseinpour and Zandkarimi, also bagged several awards at different international film festivals.

The IPFF screens “films featuring images and characters, telling stories, cracking the surface of perceptions and reaching the core”, according to the hybrid event’s website.

The festival aims to “bring together artists and viewers who sincerely long for enrichment with art, intellectual discussion and an experience of cinema through a new prism - that of the portrait film”.

The upcoming edition of the International Portrait Film Festival will take place on November 17-27.

Hosseinopur previously served as a juror at other film festivals, including the 26th International Film Festival Golden Beggar in Slovakia.
